
I know many people out there are asking themselves the same question. Can I really do P90X being 50, or even 100 pounds overweight? The answer is quite simple, yes you can! When I first thought of doing P90X as I watched the infomercial, I thought to myself can I really do this? I mean come on, many of the people that were in the infomercial and on YouTube weren’t that out of shape, most only had about 20 pounds or so to lose. So could I realistically do this being this fat and out of shape? Well, one thing was for sure I was hell bent on trying and I’m sure glad I did.
So if you are 50 or even 100 pounds overweight and don’t think you can do P90X because you are too fat then I want you to stop saying I can’t and start saying I can because if I can do it then anyone can. Is it going to be hard? Hell yeah! Most things worth it in life are. So let me tell you how I went about doing P90X and maybe it will help you decide that you can do it too.

My first day of P90X was the fitness test, I could barely do 11 push ups and I wasn’t able to do a single pull up, and most of my other results were also pathetic but that wasn’t going to stop me from trying. On day two my first real P90X workout I thought I was going to die. I had to modify every exercise and even skipped ones that I couldn’t do by fast forwarding the DVD. I figured as long as I was moving and keeping my heart rate up skipping something that I physically couldn’t do yet wouldn’t hurt right? I wasn’t even able to do AB Ripper X because most of the exercises bothered my lower back so I skipped that too. By the end of the workout I was totally exhausted but I had completed it.
The Reason I am telling you all this is because I don’t want you to think that you can’t get amazing results if you can’t do some of the exercises in P90X or if you have to modify most of the exercises because you can. As long as you give it your all on the exercises that you can do and follow the nutrition plan, you can get some great results. You will find as your weight drops and you get a little more fit each day you will start being able to do the exercises that you once weren’t able to do. So make sure every time you repeat a workout to retry those exercises that you couldn’t do before, you may be surprised by the results.
The first phase is going to be your hardest and if your real heavy like I was don’t go in to it expecting to reach your goals in your first round. I knew I was 90 pounds overweight and there was no way in hell that I was going to drop all my weight in the first 90 days so you have to be realistic so you won’t get discouraged and quit. Set small goals at first and keep a positive attitude that is the key to successfully completing P90X. So if you have any negative people in your life I highly recommend keeping away from them for the 90 days.
I do recommend a few things when doing P90X for the first time. First I highly recommend removing all the junk foods from your home if it’s not there you won’t be tempted by it. Second Study the nutrition plan and stick to it especially the first phase when you are only allowed only 1 carb portion a day. If you are real heavy like me when I started you will find that you can just stay on the first phase of the diet throughout the program. Third I highly recommend buying a real good pair of cross trainers because Plyometrics and some of the other exercises can be real stressful on the feet and knees especially if you are real heavy. Also don’t worry about pull ups they will come with time so a good set of resistance bands will do for now. Lastly I recommend a heart rate monitor this will let you know if you aren’t working out hard enough or if you are working out to hard during those tough P90X workouts.
So if you had any doubts in your mind that you aren’t going to be able to do P90X because you can’t do a pull up or you can only do five regular push ups. Then take it from a former fat guy you can do it don’t let anyone tell you different. I lost 40 pounds in 90 day so just remember go at your own pace “never say die just modify” and follow the nutrition plan and I guarantee you will get results.
